Mobile Phone Wiki

I really enjoyed participating in this Wiki.  I am a fan of Edward de Bono and liked the Six Thinking Hats - what a great thinking routine to teach in school.  I believe you can align De Bono's six hats with Cognitive Digital Taxonomy.  This is the link we used to view De Bono's thinking routine: http://www.kurwongbss.eq.edu.au/thinking/Hats/hats.htm

This routine was great to use in the wiki because it was leading the participants from basic knowledge, which may have contained negative thoughts up through the scaffolding towards the blue hat. Constructivism is an element here because as the learner moves through the hats he/she gains more understanding about the subject.  Cognitivism is an element here because as we participate in the wiki aren't we deciding what's going in and out of that memory and what are the most important thoughts as we work our way through the hats.
Connectivism is here because of all these different opinions changing our knowledge.  I struggle to show any elements of Behaviourism here unless you can apply it to the white hat which is your lower thinking area-focus on facts, telling us what you know.

As a parent I would not let my son take his mobile phone into the classroom because it would be a temptation to check messages and cause disruptions.  However, after participating in the Wiki I have changed my mind and would consider it to be used with caution and care.  I believe the schools would have to starting training people to think of it as an educational tool not just a social tool. I only see the benefit in participating in this Wiki, drawbacks and issues would be if you actually had the task of trying to win schools and parents over with the idea.

More knowledge gained..............Simone
